Frequently Asked Questions
Can't find your answer? Feel free to ask us your question
How does DroneQuote help me go solar?
DroneQuote is America’s first proposal aggregator that actually conducts an in-person site survey to gather ground imagery, and also eliminates homeowner liability by using a drone to capture high definition roof imagery, all to provide you with the most accurate and competitive solar quotes on our website and without hours of in-home pitches or pushy sales presentations.
How do I get started with DroneQuote?
It’s easy! You can either call in and a DroneQuote agent will collect the information to schedule your free drone flight, or you can answer a few questions and schedule your free drone survey by clicking the schedule survey button at the top of the page, or the get started button at the bottom of the page.
How long does a DroneQuote home survey take?
Our licensed and insured drone operator follows a procedure list that should take no longer than 15 minutes.
Privacy is a concern for me, What kind of information is DroneQuote gathering?
We understand your concern for privacy. To get you a comprehensive quote we would need to collect about 5 to 10 aerial images of your electrical panel for system sizing, detailed roof images, and any surrounding obstructions like trees or chimneys. We would also need to provide the Installation companies with a copy of a recent utility bill.
What if there are drone flight restrictions in my area?
If we can’t fly, we will still send a pilot out to your home to take images of your electrical panel, roof material and condition form the ground.
Are DroneQuote drone pilots licensed and insured?
Yes, all of our pilots are required to carry a $1,000,000 insurance policy and a current FAA certified certificate.
If the service is free to me, who pays for it?
DroneQuote is not only a free service to the homeowner, but also to the installing companies. Instead of the status quo approach of selling your contact information for profit, we give the installers only the information they need to quote the system, free of charge accurately. We are then paid only by the company that sells a system. What this means for you is that you are offered the sharpest price because companies are not buying leads that may or may not close.

DroneQuote works with many high-quality southern California installers. Follow this link to see what installers are in your area.

How can I trust the quality of vendors recommended by DroneQuote?
Both founders have more than 10 years combined in the solar industry working for the top rated regional installer in southern California, Baker Electric Solar. We know the ins and the out of the solar buying process, and we also have seen the pain from many misquoted system gone wrong. As professions we know there is a better and more efficient way to go solar, so we took that knowledge and found the best installers that are in business to partner up with for your benefit.
What information are you sharing with the solar installation vendors?
We only give the installers the information they need to accurately quote the system, such as the roof photo, the electric service photos, pictures of your gas and electric meter, and photos of anything that might cast a shadow on your roof. We do not provide your contact information to the installers until you have picked the quote you would like to proceed with.
How long does it take to get my solar installation quotes?
After the DroneQuote flight takes place, you should expect to see your quotes on the DroneQuote dashboard within 48 hours.
Where can I see my quotes?
Your solar quotes will appear in your customer portal in the dashboard section by logging into the account here.
How do I select a solar installer?
By clicking “Accept / Start Project” in the proposal that best fits what you are looking for.
Am I making the solar system purchase through the DroneQuote site?
No. By clicking “Accept / Start Project,” you are telling one installer that you want to move forward with them, at which point we release your contact details to the winning bidder, and they reach out to you to initiate the buying process.
What happens if I want to cancel my solar installation project?
If you want to cancel your solar project, please email [email protected] and tell us you would like to cancel and we will contact the installer immediately.
